Support of Youth

The Knight of Columbus has history of supporting the youth and several organizations that work with the youth. Our Council #7909 is not the exception as we support or sponsor several Prince of Peace Catholic Church organizations.

Council Events

Every year the Knights of Columbus, Council #7909 conducts a series of events that involves all parish youth.

The Youth Community and Parish Service Appreciation Party (formerly known as the Altar Server and Children Choir Appreciation Party) is one event that has been conducted in fun places for the kids for the services to the parish and the community. The last couple of years have been held at “Pump-It-Up” with over 40 participants. Beside the over one hour of Fun they received a meal, drinks and goodies. Several brother Knights volunteer to support this event.
The Basketball Free Throw Contest. This is an event that start in the January of each year with Council Level competition of boys and girls form age groups 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 years old. Each participant have the opportunity to make as many shots out 15 attempts. Each Participant at the Council Level receives a KofC Free Throw Contest Patch and a Participant Certificate. The highest scorers from each group advance representing our council to the District Level completion. They receive also a Council Level Champion Award for their division. The winners advance to the Regional or State Level Competition. Several brother Knights volunteer to support this event.
