About our Council

Knights of Columbus Council #7909 is a very active and fairly large group of men dedicated to the service of God. We are a brotherhood of almost 500 Brother Knights who work hard to improve the community around us through service and charity.

Our council puts on many event throughout the year that focus on thanking others, raising money for those in need, improving our community or parish, or speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves. The Knights of Columbus council #7909 is a vibrant community, and we encourage all Catholic men in good standing with the Holy See to join us. Please read our website and contact our Membership Director for more information.

Food Drives

Our council, through the planning of our Program Director, participates in a monthly food drive for our local Catholic Charities.

Usually the 4th Weekend of the Month, the Catholic Charities box truck is in our parking lot during Mass to collect food and monetary donations for those who may go without food. In addition, Brother Knights man the truck with others to collect and load the food into the truck. We encourage everyone to make a point to bring in some food every month to help those in need.

Annual Golf Tournament

Our Mission From God Golf Tournament is a yearly event that directly benefits our parish. We use the funds generated from this event to aid in the financial needs of Prince of Peace. Funds are generated in two primary ways, first being the fees paid by the golfers for their participation. The second is the generous donations of area businesses. We thank all those who have been involved in the past and look forward to future participation.

In the Kitchen

Our council is in the process of ironing out the details for a quarterly food event in our parish hall. The idea is that once a quarter, we will hold an event that benefits some group in our Parish. That group can come help with the food, setup, and cleanup of the parish hall, and in turn the Knights of Columbus will split the net proceeds with that group.

This will be a great opportunity for groups to get money with no up front costs, as the Knights will provide all seed money. Furthermore, the various groups will be able to participate in the mission of the Knights of Columbus as we will use our part of the funds to continue our charitable works within the community and parish. Look for changes to this page as details are finalized.

The Council also runs a Parish Fish Fry during the Lenten Season. We do this every Friday from Ash Wednesday and ending on the week preceeding Holy Week. We encourage all members of the the Parish to join us for food and fun, and don't forget to participate in the Stations of the Cross while at the church.
